How to Join

Things to know first

  • We have an age limit. Very few exceptions will be made, but generally the age limit is 18... if the venue we're doing is a bar that's 21 to enter, you will be unable to perform unless you are indeed 21+.
  • We do rehearse, and expect you to show up. We understand people have real lives, but don't expect to never show up to rehearsal and get to do a large part. If you can't make most rehearsals, we do have other areas that don't require rehearsal (techies!)
  • We do have auditions, however, we are a fluid cast- I prefer cast members who can fill in a few different spots instead of one dedicated cast member for each part. We also prefer to have enough people so the main roles can be cut in half between two members. This is to avoid having to change so quick. So you may audition for Riff, Crim, Eddie, and Magenta, and be put on the list for Crim, Eddie, and Magenta, and end up playing one of those three at shows.
  • Regarding costumes & body types- ALL body types, ages, and genders are welcome. If you're a big hairy fat guy and want to play columbia, as long as you can do the part, feel free to try out! If you're a skinny short chick with giant boobs, feel free to try out for Riff if you like. Costumes will be purchased by YOU, and while we like you to look screen accurate as possible (your costume looks the same as the ones on screen) I understand this is a monetary issue for some people, and you can start out with an outfit that is simply good enough to be recognized as that character. We do have a few costume pieces that are "cast" property, but do not expect us to fund your entire costume.
  • "But I know [cast member], I shouldn't have to try out!"... tough luck. Believe me, we will find something for you to do, but we treat everyone the same.
  • We don't expect perfection, but we do expect you to work on your part and HAVE FUN!!! We improve the audience's enjoyment of the movie, and we can't do that with a sour puss on.
  • Most rehearsals happen in one cast member's living room or another. Please respect whoever's home we're in.
  • Not everyone works on stage- if you want to help out but don't want to be on stage, we also need people to do Tech (moving props) photography, and sometimes lighting.

If you wish to add in your technical, theater, or stage skills, please contact us in any of the following ways:

  • Facebook (Link to the left)
  • Email at JenniSod@Gmail.com
  • Phone Jenni, the cast director, at 316-871-9571 (phone calls and texts are okay)

Information you should tell us:

  • Basic contact info (The only people who will have this information is Jenni the cast director, and the current secretary who occasionally makes phone calls to let cast know of sudden changes)
  • Your schedule in general- we hold rehearsals ROUGHLY once a month, and getting this many people together is difficult without an idea of schedules.
  • If you have performed in a cast before (of ROCKY or another shadowcast) and, if you like, contact info for your previous director.
  • When you will be able to start (you can apply even if you can't start now, it gives us an idea that we may have someone to fill a place in the future!)
  • Your ideal roles (DO NOT EXPECT TO SUDDENLY BE CAST IN THESE ROLES! You will have to do a LITTLE work for it.)

We are especially looking for:
Brads
Janets
Magentas
Franks
Trannies!
Techies (people who move props)
A dedicated photographer
